No judicial ‘quick fix’

Barbados’ judicial system requires more than a quick fix.

Attorney General Dale Marshall has promised that since more judges have been appointed, and changes are coming to the Police Certificate of Character office, improvements will be seen in the way the courts deal with criminal and civil cases.

“Overall, I think the future of delivery of justice in Barbados still has some challenges. these appointments are not expected to alleviate those challenges overnight but they are certainly intended over the medium term to be able to reduce the amount of both criminal and civil matters pending in the judicial system.  

“We actually now have five judges in the criminal bench who will be doing nothing but criminal law . . .  (TG)
