A young man yesterday confessed that his inability to find a job drove him to sell drugs.
But the magistrate noted that even though the youngster might only see himself as a small seller, he was part of the bigger nationwide problem of guns, violence and a high murder rate.
Twenty-two-year-old Terry Ricardo Jemmott, of 1st Avenue, Club Morgan, Christ Church, was in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court, where he pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis, having a traffickable quantity of the drug and intent to supply on December 31.
“There ain’t got nothing going on work-wise. I did planning when the year turn to go to Skills Training and learn carpentry,” he said, adding he used to perform landscaping jobs but that avenue had closed. (HLE)
