Five Christ Church residents sought shelter with relatives tonight after they lost their Bamboo Gap, St Lawrence home and possessions to fire.

Member of Parliament for Christ Church South Ralph Thorne, who was at the scene, said the family will be referred to the Welfare Department tomorrow.

Homeowner Michael Hutson lived at the residence with his partner Sherryann Williams – a gas station attendant and children 24-year-old son Omar Hutson, 21-year son Malik – a student of the University of the West Indies and a 16-year-old daughter Makela, a student of Combermere.

The wooden house was not insured. (AC)
