Police have launched an investigation into a robbery of the Sol Gas Station at Black Rock, St Michael, early Saturday morning.

Social media was abuzz yesterday when video surveillance of the robbery started to circulate locally.

Police public relations officer Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss confirmed they are looking for three suspects, all of whom were armed when they stormed into the popular facility just after 3 a.m., holding up two female workers. The amount of money taken remains undisclosed.

“We have no suspects at this time, but we are doing our due diligence and will be using the closed-circuit television footage to assist us,” Inniss said.

In the video, a female worker can be seen emptying the contents of two cash registers into backpacks which were thrown onto the counter by the suspected robbers as they demanded money.

One man, dressed in a grey, long-sleeved hoodie sweat-shirt and with his face covered with a mask, was touting a large weapon. He jumped on the counter, demanding the cashier put money into the backpack.

Within seconds of the man appearing on screen, a second person wearing a long-sleeved blue hoodie and also masked, joined in, while holding a gun.

The two men were in the store for fewer than two minutes. (BA)
