A man collapsed and died at the entrance of the Black Rock Police Police Station this morning.

Police Public Relations Officer, Inspector (ag) Rodney Inniss said, lawmen received a report after 2 a.m.

informing them that a man was in the area of Skeete Road, Fairfield, Black Rock, St Michael throwing stones and bottles, breaking windows damaging cars and houses in the area. The caller also reported that the now-deceased man was shouting profanity and eating and drinking from garbage cans and behaving “quite strangely”.

Inniss said a joint response team from Black Rock, District “A” Station including the Criminal Investigation Department and the Suppressing Criminal Activity Threatening Society (SCATS) unit were met by some residents who had held the suspect. He was handed over to lawmen and taken to the Black Rock Police station.  As he was entering the station office he collapsed on the floor and medical assistance was summoned.

An ambulance arrived shortly afterwards and medical personnel reported that the man was unresponsive and showed no sign of life. A doctor later pronounced him dead.

The identity of the individual is yet to be confirmed. Police have issued an appeal to anyone who may be able to give an identification of this man to contact the Black Rock Police Station at 417 7500 or 417 7501. (KOB/PR)
