He was not caught at 3:20 in the morning but after midday, said many-time convicted thief Mikal Torique Worrell, as he tried to dodge claims of curfew breaking yesterday.

But the time of his latest offence made no difference, since the fact that he was already on bail for a similar offence, his previous convictions, along with a guilty plea to another theft charge, earned Worrell nine months in prison when he appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court.

The 25-year-old, of Mango Lane, St Peter, pleaded guilty to entering Jumas Restaurant, on April 6, and stealing two cases of beer, a case of bottled water and two cases of soft drinks belonging to Mark Daghorn.

“I apologise for doing it,” the thief told Magistrate Wanda Blair. “But he (the prosecutor) say it was 3:20 a.m. but it was daytime. It was after 12.”
