Ministry: Days of reckoning

The Ministry of Agriculture says today and tomorrow will determine the effectiveness of its marking out of vending spots in The City.

Yesterday, manager of markets Sherlock King said roadside vendors in Cheapside were allocated a spot on Wednesday around 11 a.m.

Although he was pleased with how operations went yesterday, he said the weekend was usually the busiest time and the programme’s success would be properly gauged then.

“Today (yesterday), there was mostly conformity, but tomorrow (today) and Saturday will be the testing days. Just like the supermarkets did, if there are any problems, we will work them out. So this weekend will be about observation and reviewing the system.” (SB)
