Opposition Leader Bishop Joseph Atherley has told Government he will give it a failing grade if its time in office does not result in further economic democracy.
He urged Government to “seek to reduce reliance upon the political influence of the elite economic interests that operate behind the scenes”.
The St Michael West MP was speaking yesterday as the House of Assembly debated a private members’ resolution on Black Lives Matter.
Atherley bemoaned that while a black political class had run Barbados for decades, economic enfranchisement for the majority black population had not been achieved or pursued enough. (SC)
