Barbados’ Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Liz Thompson is denying that she received any special treatment after she was diagnosed with COVID-19 last month.

She also made it clear that the taxpayers of this country did not foot the bill for her trip home from New York to visit her ailing mother Pauline Thompson.

“On Monday [May 18] when I came to Barbados I felt perfectly well, I had absolutely no symptoms of anything. I was in great shape. I was tested. I was allowed to see my mother because her situation was so severe. In fact, the day before the doctors said they did not think she would live through the night, so it was critical for me to get to her because they felt I would not get a chance to see her again,” she recalled.

“I understand there were allegations that some Barbadian business person paid for my travel. That is absolutely false, it is not true, nor did the taxpayers pay. (TG)
