A High Court judge has warned that those convicted of gun possession or who plead guilty to the offence should not expect to be treated like Jahzeel Akeem Ward.

Justice Randall Worrell made the comments as he sentenced the 20-year-old to seven years in jail on June 26, in the No. 2 Supreme Court.

However, he will only spend 698 days.

Ward, of Apes Hill, Orange Hill, St James, pleaded guilty, at an earlier Session of the Continuous Sittings, to having a pipe gun on January 27, 2019.

He was represented by attorney Arthur Holder, while Crown Counsel Rudolph Burnett appeared for the prosecution. (HLE)
