Wood knocks Weir over chicken wings

Former Minister of Agriculture Anthony Wood is taking issue with current minister Indar Weir concerning the importation of chicken wings by the Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (BADMC).

Wood yesterday released a statement to the media chastising Weir and accusing the St Philip South MP of not having a true understanding of what the BADMC was facing.

Wood’s comments are just the latest salvo in the ongoing feud between the two. It started in May with Wood taking out a newspaper ad to publicly distance himself from Weir. It emerged later that he had resigned as chairman of BADMC.

Last week, in a contribution on the radio call-in programme Down To Brass Tacks, Wood decried a “ban” on the importation of wings and asked Government to review the recent rise in chicken wing prices. (BA/PR)
