BOA cancels 2020 awards

Barbados’ top athletes will not be rewarded for their performances this year.

The coronavirus pandemic has caused the Barbados Olympic Association (BOA) to pull the plug on its annual awards ceremony normally held in December at Hilton Resort, Barbados.

Word of this came from BOA president Sandra Osborne after a letter signed by secretary general Erskine Simmons was sent to all sporting federations.

“The board of the Barbados Olympic Association took the decision recently to cancel the 2020 awards ceremony. We said there is no point in us having an awards ceremony for the sake of having it if we are not going to recognise outstanding performances across the board. The prospect of this happening for the rest of the year doesn’t look that promising either.” (AGB)
