The courts may not be fully computerised, but they keep a record and a lie will come back to haunt an accused.

So said Magistrate Douglas Frederick as the court caught Shamario Simeon Odle in a lie and remanded him when he appeared in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Odle, 21, a gardener, of Deacons Road, St Michael, had just pleaded guilty to possession, trafficking, possession with intent to supply and cultivating cannabis on August 11.

He explained he turned to drugs in an attempt to get money.

“During the COVID-19, I did get lay off from work and I had to get money,” he said.

“So you were going to sell it?” the magistrate asked Odle, who eventually replied: “Yes, Sir.” (HLE)
