Despite several hiccups before and after ground was broken two years ago, the state-of-the-art Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens facility in St Peter has officially opened and is being heralded by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley as a beacon of Barbadian service excellence.

Delivering the feature remarks at the opening ceremony yesterday, which was attended by several members of her Cabinet, Mottley challenged Barbadian businesses to emulate this high standard, especially within the context of COVID-19.

She praised the owners of the facility, Ember Investment Corporation, for maintaining confidence in the Barbadian economy during a time of significant uncertainty.

“For us as a Government it represented confidence on the part of investors. You had to take a decision as to whether you would be prepared to invest money against the backdrop of all that we were managing to do economically with the restructuring of our debt, and the repurposing of where we wanted this economy and our society to go,” she said.  (CLM)
