Cabinet ministers should be chosen by the people of Barbados, and not only the Prime Minister, says former Minister of Environment Trevor Prescod.
He said he also hoped that in the future the “elitist” practice of people being appointed based on their political connections would be discontinued.
Prescod was discussing the Role Of Pan Africanism In Influencing The Policies Of Governments yesterday when he made the point yesterday as one of two guests on the Marcia Weekes Show on Facebook live.
“I’m not being selfish in any way, but it is something that has always worried me, because I don’t like the elitist way of persons coming to central government when the people of Barbados had no say in determining it,” he said. (TG)
