The young man who pumped several shots into popular Baxters Road bar owner Colin Forde as he tried to hang on to his jewellery was sentenced to 17 years in prison for manslaughter yesterday.

First-time offender Eddisa Deon Mitchell got one year less than his brother, Chris Avian Lord, who also pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Lord, who had previous convictions for robbery and possession of a gun, was the one who masterminded the robbery.

Mitchell, 24, of 2nd Avenue, Thomas Gap, President Kennedy Drive, St Michael, was back in the No. 2 Supreme Court yesterday after he had pleaded guilty, at an earlier Session of the Continuous Sittings, to unlawfully killing – manslaughter – Forde on May 10, 2016, after he had denied murdering the shopkeeper on the same date.
