Stern reprimand for PSV conductor

A Bridgetown magistrate yesterday lambasted a public service vehicle (PSV) conductor who kept butting in as a police inspector was speaking to his driver who had committed an offence.

Jason Ricardo Omar Taylor was staring at the next two days on remand, but pleas for his children earned him a fine instead of a prison stay.

“Everybody wants to be a spectacle. Everybody wants to go on social media and look like they talking bad and being disrespectful to police,” Magistrate Alison Burke said.

“I don’t know where this new phase is coming from, but it has got to stop because the minute the police look away from arresting a person with a serious offence, like with a gun or something, and they look at you being a nuisance behind them, a bullet might go off and somebody might get shot because they were not vigilant.” (HLE)
