Fire at fishing complex

Police are conducting investigations into a fire of an unknown origin which destroyed a fishing vessel and damaged two others on Friday night.

It also damaged the roof to a shed which housed a tractor at the Bridgetown Fisheries Boat Yard, Princess Alice Highway, St Michael.

Officers were on patrol in the area around 11:15 p.m. when they saw fire coming from one of the boats in the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex. Along with security personnel who were on patrol at the complex, they saw a fishing vessel engulfed in flames which quickly spread to two other boats.

The Barbados Fire Service was summoned, and crews the Arch Hall and Bridgetown Stations under the command of Divisional Officer Fields, extinguished the fire.

The owners of the vessels are yet to be identified and the value of the damage is currently undetermined.  (PR/SAT)
