Before year end, employers may be mandated to operate under different circumstances as Government moves to make the Safety and Health At Work Act more effective.

Minister of Labour and Social Partnership Relations Colin Jordan said they would be going to Parliament with new regulations by August.

He said the ministry continued to be a part of the COVID-19 Protocol Monitoring Unit, which also comprised personnel from the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

“The ministry is at this time also focusing on other aspects of occupational safety and health. The Safety and Health At Work Act is a 2007 piece of legislation, but there are no regulations to provide details for the more effective administration and implementation of that piece of legislation.” (RA)
