A local construction company is building houses for Barbadians entirely out of galvanised steel.

Philip Allsopp, the general manager of Light Gauge Solutions told the Sunday Sun that the houses were not only cheaper per square foot than the traditional houses but they were also impervious to rot, termites, fire and can withstand category 3 hurricanes.

Allsopp spoke while at Workmans, St George, where he and his team are building a steel home for a customer.

He said several Barbadians had been stopping by not only to admire the imposing structure but also to enquire about their lifetime lasting galvanised steel material. (MB)
