Clarke, Joseph rule the road in cycling

Philip Clarke was crowned men’s national cycling champion for a third time, while Amber Joseph retained her title in the women’s category when the 2021 Stoli Cockspur road race took place today.

Competing on the Searles/Six Roads circuit, 46-year-old Clarke who represented Sentry, beat second-place Jamol Eastmond and Joshua Kelly to the line over 12 laps.

Meantime, Joseph who won the time trial on Saturday morning, and raced with the elite men on Sunday, completed unfinished business and was the clear winner in the women’s seven-lap contest.

Sentry Insurance’s Nicole Scott took the silver finishing ahead of independent rider Natalie Licorish who claimed the bronze medal.
