At 2 p.m. on September 6, 2021, 542 people were in isolation facilities in Barbados.

Of these, 438 patients (81 per cent) were unvaccinated and 97 (18 per cent) were fully vaccinated.  Seven people, all in tertiary isolation, were partially vaccinated for COVID-19.

Five of those fully vaccinated patients (one in primary and four in secondary) were in need of care, and the other 92 were in tertiary isolation.

Primary and secondary isolation for COVID-19 patients in Barbados are units which accommodate those who are very ill and need close monitoring and treatment, with primary isolation being designated for the most severely ill.

Meanwhile, tertiary isolation houses patients who are only mildly ill, or not showing illness.

It is important to note that the number of people in isolation changes throughout the day as persons are admitted and discharged. (BGIS)
