Still upbeat over arrivals

Minister of Tourism Senator Lisa Cummins says there is no need for alarm over the latest Level 4 United States advisory for travel to Barbados.

She said high-risk advisories of this nature that did not call for a further tightening of protocols were not likely to impact the arrival numbers or interest in the destination.

At the same time, some travel agents and those in the cruise sector said they were unmoved by the advisory and remained upbeat about Barbados’ travel and tourism sector.

Cummins took a dim view of advisories of this nature, suggesting they were counterproductive to the fight against the pandemic as most countries across the globe were in the same boat. (CLM/CH)
