Another 300 people, 125 males and 175 females, were identified as COVID-19 positive on Tuesday, health authorities said.

This followed 2 349 tests conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory.

The new cases comprise 50 young people under the age of 18, and 250 people who are 18 years and older.

There are 803 people in isolation facilities.  This figure does not include those persons isolating at home.

Barbados has now identified 9 823 cases of the virus (4 782 males and 5 041 females) since the first case was reported in March last year.  There have been 85 deaths.

Health officials also said 139 644 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 108 963 people (40.2 per cent of the total population or 47.7 per cent of the eligible population) have received their second dose and are therefore fully vaccinated under the national vaccination programme.

The eligible population is anyone 12 years and older.
