260 new virus cases

The number of new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases reported for Sunday, October 31, is 260 – 131 males and 129 females. The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory conducted 1 293 tests.

The new positive cases consist of 61 people who are under the age of 18, and 199 who are 18 years and older.

There are 803 people in isolation facilities, and 5 755 in home isolation.

Three deaths were recorded – two Barbadian females, one aged 69, who passed away on October 29, and an 81-year-old. The third death is that of a 70-year-old Barbadian male. They were all unvaccinated. The number of people who have died from COVID-19 as at October 31, is 156.

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 149 019 (65.2 per cent of the eligible population).  A total of 126 914 people (46.8 per cent of the total population or 55.6 per cent of the eligible population) have received their second doses and are fully vaccinated. The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Barbados has carried out 390 053 tests and recorded 18 023 confirmed cases (8 727 males and 9 296 females) of COVID-19. (MHW)
