A St Philip businessman must fork out $40 000 or spend time in jail for having a gun and some bullets three years ago.
Six Roads resident Mervyn Walter Hunte, 53, who had pleaded guilty to having a .45 revolver and 16 bullets on November 9, 2018, was ordered by Justice Randall Worrell in the No. 2 Supreme Court on Tuesday, to pay $25 000 for the firearm in three months. Failure to do so will see him spending 1 417 days at HMP Dodds.
The first time offender was also handed a $15 000 fine for the 16 bullets, to be paid in the same time period, with the same consequence if unpaid.
Hunte also admitted possession and trafficking 142.5 grammes of marijuana, but Justice Worrell convicted, reprimanded and discharged him on those matters. (RA)
