A flash-flood warning remains in effect for Barbados until about 6 p.m. on Monday, but could be discontinued sooner if conditions warrant.

Meanwhile, the severe-thunderstorm watch has also been extended until 6 p.m. today.

A flash-flood warning is issued when rapid flooding due to heavy or excessive rainfall in a short period of time (generally less than six hours) is occurring or is imminent in the warning area.

During the morning, rainfall accumulations of two to three inches were recorded across the island.

Further accumulations of one to two inches in heavy shower activity are expected throughout the afternoon as the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) continues to affect the island.

A severe thunderstorm watch is issued when significant lightning activity is possible within the watch area (generally within six hours).

Occasional light wind activity associated with scattered thunderstorms continued throughout the morning and there is the possibility of further thunderstorm activity during the afternoon. (PR/SAT)
