The Barbados Community College (BCC) is looking much brighter these days, thanks to upgrades to the physical plant.

Speaking after a service at St Barnabas’ Anglican Church on Sunday to mark the 55th anniversary, principal Annette Alleyne said they started with the buildings on the periphery of the Eyrie Campus and more work was planned in the next financial year.

“There hasn’t been a lot of work in the past years done on the maintenance and upgrade of the building, but in the last three years, we have refurbished quite a few labs at the College where we now have state-of-the-art facilities,” Alleyne said.

“However, we are also looking at repainting a number of the buildings and treating some of the buildings where we have found that there are health and safety concerns,” she added.

Eight laboratories were upgraded. On the outskirts of the campus, the admin block, Liberal Arts Department and Division of Commerce were repainted, as was the admin building at Morningside. The principal also commended those who had done “a phenomenal job” in the upkeep of the Jean and Norma Holder Hospitality Institute. (Nation News)
