Barbados and the region’s ability to access the affordable financing they need to develop will take centre stage this morning when the Caribbean Development Bank’s (CDB) 53rd annual meeting officially starts here at the Sandals Grande St Lucian in Rodney Bay.

Minister in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs Ryan Straughn is named among the list of officials participating in the high-level discussions, which are being hosted by St Lucia’s Prime Minister Phillip J. Pierre, the current chairman of the CDB’s board of governors.

The theme of the meeting is Marshalling Finance For Development: Access To Adequate, Affordable Financing.

Pierre will address the opening ceremony where CDB president Dr Gene Leon, who is St Lucian, will also deliver a keynote statement that is expected to focus on financing, including the role that his organisation is playing, in partnership with borrowing member countries, to improve access to it.
