PORT OF SPAIN – An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 rocked several parts of Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The Seismic Research Centre (SRC) of the St Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI) said that the quake occurred at 7:34 a.m. (local time) at a depth of 32 kilometers (km).
It said it was felt in the capital, Port of Spain, as well as 100 km north west Arima, east of here, 105 km west north west of San Fernando, in south Trinidad.
The quake is the second to be felt here on Sunday, the SRC said, noting that at 2:13 a.m. (local time) a tremor with a magnitude of 3.5 rattled the capital, and was also felt 119 km south west of St George’s in Grenada and 111 km north east of Carúpano in Venezuela
The quake was located at a depth of 132 km, the SRC added. (CMC)
