Ricardo Elwin Sealy told police he felt threatened by his brother Ryan Sealy who had injured him previously.

As a result, when they got into a fight, he hit him “six or seven times” with a hammer.

These were some of the facts read into evidence yesterday, when Sealy reappeared in the No 4 Supreme Court.

The 35-year-old, of Cambridge, St Joseph, was arraigned with murdering Ryan Sealy on April 13, 2021. He pleaded not guilty to that count, but guilty to unlawfully killing (manslaughter) his brother on the same date.

He was represented by attorneys Dave Cumberbatch and Dereck Boyce, while Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Alliston Seale, SC, appeared for the prosecution.

Justice Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell ordered a pre-sentencing report, as well as psychiatric and psychological reports. She set April 24 as the date for sentencing submissions. (HLE)
