The Ministry of Education said efforts are underway to bring a conclusion to the matter of term’s leave for teachers before the end of the school year.

In response to the Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT) stating that they were yet to meet, the ministry released a statement today that said they and the Ministry of the Public Service were coordinating efforts to bring a conclusion to the matter.

“We remain committed to engaging in discussions with the BUT surrounding the court ruling on the matter of term’s leave for teachers. Because the final decision taken did not rest with the Ministry of Education, the appropriate course of action is for the ministries to conclude their discussions before all parties sit for the necessary talks. The Ministry of Education is aware of the considerable time passed since the request for the meeting, and is,, therefore, committed to having the necessary discussions concluded before the end of the school year.” (PR)
