West Indies captain Hayley Matthews maintained her position at No. 2 among allrounders in the world, while bowler Afy Fletcher made a huge jump in the latest Women’s One-Day International rankings announced by the ICC in Dubai.

At age 38, Afy Fletcher is playing her best cricket in West Indies colours and this has led to a meteoric rise in the world ranking. The veteran leg-break and googly bowler, with 18 years of experience at the international level, has broken into the Top 20 bowlers in the rankings.

She jumped four places to be at No. 19 with 513 points – just nine off the best of her career-best when she had 522 points back in 2019. She will have the chance to improve to a career-best points tally when she plays the final One-Day International against South Africa on Tuesday, at the 3Ws Oval at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill.

Matthews is the highest ranked bowler in the team at eighth with 634 points. She also remains in second spot among allrounders with 432 points. Her career-high was 448 which she achieved when the West Indies played in England earlier this month. (PS)
