Barbados’ young volleyballers could face a baptism of fire in the Pan Am Under-21 Championships next week, as none of the “weaker” English-speaking Caribbean teams will be participating in the championship involving hosts, Canada, the United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Chile, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.

The Barbados Volleyball Association over the weekend named the squad for the 2025 Men’s Under-21 NORCECA Pan-American Cup in Calgary, Alberta, Canada from August 3rd to 11th after winning the CAZOVA Under-19 championship in Jamaica last year.

Barbados face Canada on August 5th, Chile on the 6th and DR on the 7th in their pool play.

The team will be captained by Kaden Hoyte who led the team when they won CAZOVA juniors last year. The other members of the team are Nkoya Williams-Bailey, Jadon Batson, Dominic Durant, Isaiah Francis, Kaden Rock, Sergio Jones, Zordan Thomas, Nicholas Russell-Griffith, Tajor Reid, Mekhi Atherley and Kaiel Johnson.
