Farmers fed up with thieves raiding their fields and livestock have been warned not to commit a crime to stop a crime.

The caution has came Acting Superintendent of the Barbados Police Service Anthony Warner during a forum on praedial larceny hosted by the Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS) yesterday at Kensington Oval

He stressed while farmers can exercise powers of arrest under the Criminal Law (Arrestable Offences) Act, they should not endeavour to use lethal force against trespassers on their property.

“Every situation will not be the same, and I am not going to tell you how to deal with a situation, but don’t commit a crime to stop a crime because then you too, will be the subject of an investigation,” Warner said.
