Flash-Flood Warning downgraded to watch

The flash-flood warning issued for Barbados this morning has now been downgraded to a flash-flood watch, as showers have eased across the eastern and northern parishes. T

According to the BMS, light to moderate showers earlier in the day created brief localized flooding because soils remain heavily saturated from the weekend’s intense rainfall.

Up to nine inches of rain fell in some northern parishes between Saturday and Monday.

While the heavier showers have moved off, conditions remain unstable, and the island still faces a medium risk of significant flooding.

Residents are advised that runoff from higher elevations, soil erosion, and pooling of water on roads—particularly at the foot of hills and coastal areas – are still possible.

The watch will remain in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, unless conditions change. (BMS)
