The Weymouth Wales dynasty was in full effect on Monday night, when the newly crowned kings of the Prime Minister’s Cup stormed to an emphatic 8-3 victory in the final against Kickstart Rush.

Played under lights at Kensington Oval, Wales, the heart and soul of Carrington Village, delivered one of the most dominant finals performances ever seen in local football history, sealing the coveted trophy and the $100 000 grand prize in ruthless fashion.

Driven by a magnificent hat-trick from tournament Most Valuable Player and Best Defender André Applewhaite, Wales looked unstoppable from start to finish. They wasted no time stamping their authority, with midfielder Jaheim Neblett stunning Kickstart by firing home the opening goal inside the very first minute. Neblett later completed a well-deserved brace in the second half, further widening the gap as Wales’ attack ran riot.

Champion coach Asquith Howell watched as his side executed with venom, precision, and flair in the scoring third. Wales added three more goals through Romario Harewood, Armando “Suga” Lashley, and a deflected own goal that summed up Kickstart’s difficult night.

Despite the tough start, Kickstart, guided by Technical Director Renaldo “PeeWee” Gilkes still managed to take away a cheque of $25 000, as they showed heart and courage, pulling three goals back via Diquan Adamson, Tekyle Alleyne and Demar Linton.

However, nothing could derail the Wales juggernaut from signing off the year unbeaten in local football. (ML)
