IF you’re wondering where to view some of the fantastic pieces of art by Christine Farmer, head on over to The Village Gallery at The Crane, St Philip; or Tides Art Gallery, St James.

You are sure to find a piece or pieces that will suit your fancy.

Born in Trinidad, Farmer started drawing and painting while attending the St Joseph’s Convent in Port of Spain. She continued painting at Loretto Abbey in Toronto, Canada, where she specialised in fine art and hand-painting on bone china.

“I always loved to experiment and create, which led me into designing and making costumes for Kiddies Carnival in Trinidad, as well as designing and making Easter bonnets for my granddaughters,” Farmer pointed out.

She has produced excellent pieces in watercolour, oils and acrylics, and has participated in workshops hosted by veteran artists Fielding Babb, Heidi Berger, Ariel Lyons and Erik Feely.

Farmer is currently a member of the “Newcomers” art group, which is hosted weekly by Indrani Whittingham.

At present, she prefers to paint in acrylics, as she finds that medium gives her the best opportunity to play and create pieces with exciting textures and vibrant colours.

According to her, “Each piece of art that I create is special to me as it is always a piece of my heart.” (CCH)
