SOCIAL SCENE: Political chatter

The audience relived Barbados Labour Party (BLP) experiences from yesterday as Sir Richard Cheltenham rekindled memories in the sixth Tom Adams Memorial Lecture he delivered at the Grand Salle recently.

Dotting the packed room were familiar faces from the height of the political career of Barbados’ second Prime Minister – friends and politicians such as Dame Billie Miller, a former deputy Prime Minister; Glyne Murray, a former BLP Minister of Culture; Stella Lady St John, widow of the late Sir Harold St John, another former Prime Minister; and a host of other BLP luminaries who turned out for the occasion.

They could hardly wait for the formalities to come to an end and the cocktail session begin afterwards for mingling, warm exchanges and the friendly arguments that follow such a presentation.

As expected, there was such a political buzz in the foyer.
