DO THE BEST YOU CAN.

That was the advice given to the Barbados CARIFTA team which is now in St Kitts and Nevis to compete at the 44th annual games this weekend.

It came from senior vice-president at ICBL, Henry Inniss, who gave the 27-member squad a pep talk after presenting the Athletics Association of Barbados with a sponsorship cheque to help with expenses.

They also gave special assistance to two of the athletes.

Barbados will be seeking to replicate or even surpass the efforts of last year when they returned home from Martinique with 16 medals including five golds. Of those five golds, three were captured by world-class junior Akela Jones, on her final appearance. (AT)
