Mottley: We did not dodge debate

THE BARBADOS LABOUR PARTY did not run from any debate in the recently concluded Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure, Opposition Leader Mia Mottley said yesterday.

What the party did, she explained, was to agree to allow its shadow ministers to concentrate on the heads, instead of trying to allow every member to speak on every head in the five days allocated for the debate.

Mottley was addressing a BLP branch meeting of the St Michael West Constituency at the St Leonard’s Boys’ School.

Stressing that the BLP parliamentary team “put the case ably”, Mottley explained that Government had approached the Opposition team last week Sunday about debating, early, each head of expenditure. (HLE)
