DEFENDING CHAMPIONS SCOTIABANK SPRINGER MEMORIAL stepped up their game to lead the girls, and Christ Church Foundation are out front in the boys after the second day of the PowerAde Barbados Secondary Schools Athletic Championships at the National Stadium.

Springer have 87 points, followed by Foundation on 30 with Lester Vaughan (29.50) third while Foundation lead the boys with 57.50 ahead of Harrison College (47.50) and Burger King Lester Vaughan (47).

Two of the early assignments brought new marks.

Dequan Lovell of St George Secondary set a meet record in the shot put with the new mark of 17.40 metres, erasing the standard of 15.76 metres set by John Jones in 2009.

Mary Fraser of Daryll Jordan set tongues wagging from early as she outstayed and outsped the field in the Girls’ 3 000 metres Open like it was a stroll in the park. (AT)
