Drug accused remanded to prison

THE THREE MEN charged in connection with nearly $2 million in drugs were today remanded by Chief Magistrate Pamela Beckles to HMP Dodds.

Despite stirring pleas for bail by their attorneys, 57-year-old businessman and former policeman David Leroy Cumberbatch, 60-year-old farmer Neville O’Neal Cumberbatch, and Mikhael Sealy, a 26-year-old boat crewman, were remanded until April 16 on six charges involving 31.9 kilos of cocaine with a street value of $1.595 million, and 56 kg of cannabis worth $224 000.

The men were yesterday taken to the Oistins Magistrates Court following a recent drug raid and charged with possessing, trafficking, intending to supply, and importing the drugs last Monday, March 16.

David Cumberbatch, of Venus Drive, Wotton Terrace, Christ Church, is represented by attorney Desmond Sands; Neville Cumberbatch, of Suttle Street, Bridgetown, is represented by Angella Mitchell-Gittens and Romain Marshall, and Sealy, of Skeetes Road, Ivy, St Michael, has Ajamu Boardi as his attorney.
