BARBADOS’ ECONOMY will improve “sooner than people think”.

Minister of Industry, International Business, Commerce and Small Business Development Donville Inniss said there were still deficiencies in both the public and private sector but brighter days were coming.

Speaking after a career showcase at the Frederick Smith Secondary School, Inniss said he still believed central Government had to be reduced in size and become more efficient while private sector companies had to take more risks and be more entrepreneurial, instead on waiting on Government for everything.

Inniss commended the showcase, saying it was a way to foster the entrepreneurial spirit in the nation’s youth. This, he said, was necessary as small and micro business would put the economy on a sustainable path.

He said he was satisfied this would happen sooner than people thought. (CA)
