PYROMANIA!
That would be a fitting description of what took place at the National Stadium in the quater-finals of NAPSAC last Wednesday.
All of the suspects who indulged in the practice are known to the public as they blatantly performed the act in front of a few thousand spectators. Under normal circumstances they would have been charged with setting the track on fire but there’s an unwritten amnesty during NAPSAC that absolves them of any wrongdoing.
After all, the athletes are there to entertain and that they did to everyone’s satisfaction. The arena was full and the youngsters played to the gallery.
We were lucky that we still had a track after section four of the Under-13 boys lit it with blinding speed.
People humorously spoke of a conspiracy after six of the fastest boys were drawn in the same group.
