DESPITE THE EFFORTS of fire officers and residents, two houses in Halls Road, St Michael, were destroyed by fire yesterday.
One home was occupied by Clementina Joseph and her son Charles Joseph while the other was occupied by husband and wife Jean and Edward Phillips and their children Alicia Phillips and Althea Charles.
In addition, an unoccupied house was extensively damaged and two others slightly damaged.
Residents said they moved quickly to combat the fire and remove the elderly Clementina from her home, but in the end the fire won out. (CA)
