JUST HOW A NINE-YEAR-OLD BOY was shot among a throng of shoppers on Swan Street in Bridgetown last Saturday remains a mystery.
Investigators have put out a public appeal for witnesses after the young member of the Bertram family from Observatory Road, Clapham, St Michael, sounded the alarm that he was bleeding from the back of the head.
A closer inspection of the wound revealed that he had been shot in the head as the family was travelling along lower Swan Street, on one of the busiest shopping days.
Police reports are that the boy suddenly clutched his head and, upon inspection, his parents realised he had been badly injured. They rushed their youngest child to FMH Emergency Medical Clinic in Belleville St Michael, which then contacted the police. Follow-up investigations revealed the injury was as a result of a gunshot.
