WICB loses U.S. $1.5 million

THE LOSSES continue to follow West Indies cricket.

Not only is the regional team losing on the field of play in the ongoing World Cup in Australia and New Zealand but the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has also suffered a major financial loss over the past year.

In the audited financial statements released last weekend following the annual general meeting of the board of directors in Jamaica for the financial year 2013-2014, the WICB admitted it was a difficult year with a net comprehensive loss of US $1.53 million and negative shareholders’ equity of US $5.4 million.

This was the first year under the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) 2013-19 Future Tours Programme and the actual net loss constituted a significant improvement over the budgeted loss at the start of the year, which was US $7 million. (EZS)
