Last week at the Christ Church Foundation School, a number of eminent people addressed the topic: Strategies For Building A Positive Self-esteem.
They included retired chief education officer Ralph Boyce; old scholar and attorney at law, Mohia Ma’at; cardiologist Dr Alfred Sparman; Craig Lowe, a logistics cost analyses; old scholar and welfare officer Fabian Jones; marketing strategist Antonio Williams; Pastor Roger Husbands, of Drug Education and Counselling Services, and Michelle Matthews, a home care assistant. The students and teachers all responded well to this educational endeavour and felt more empowered.
As I continued to reflect on my personal strategies for building self-esteem, I recognised that they are academically strong and extremely valuable. Today I will share them with you:
• Know who you are as a person and define who you are by how you treat yourself.
• Try to highlight your strengths. One of my strengths is being a committed teacher and I always enjoy spending my lunchtime with students to assist them with building their self-esteem.
• I always try to turn mistakes and challenges into winning situations. If anyone attempts to lower my self-esteem through malicious speech, I always see it as a fault in the person and I normally forgive them 1 000 times through prayer. You must also stop them by “calling them out” or seek legal assistance.
• I keep friends with people who have a very high-esteem so that they can assist in building mine. Conversely, if I encounter low-esteem persons who carry grudges and additional jealous tendencies and professional assistance does not help, I normally ‘shift’ them quickly.
• If you, your home or business environments are negative, you may be contaminated. Therefore, I would do meditation, deep breathing, exercise and drink a warm cup of herbal tea to banish any lingering negativity.
• I am a stickler for detoxing my body and always use the recipe offered in last week’s article.
• I also find that having a positive partner who is physically and mentally at your level is captivating.
• Sexual episodes are also important and I always avoid ignoring my intimate feelings and pleasures. If you are trapped, try developing a respectful loving relationship with someone who yearns to share and enjoy your positive sexual dreams.
Finally, when I use silent doctors like passion fruit, love-in-a-mist, sweet potatoes, eddoes, watermelon, okras, coconut water, five-fingers, banana, poor-man-pork and bamboo, I normally feel energised and passionate, thus creating a positive inner vision of who I am and what I want.
