JEFF BROOMES is retiring from Parkinson Memorial Secondary.
The principal, who has run afoul of teachers at the school, will be in charge for the rest of the school year, and then proceed on a term’s leave from September before his retirement takes full effect on January 1, 2016.
The announcement was made yesterday by the Ministry of Education on the day that some teachers at Parkinson withdrew their services from the classroom.
Broomes, perhaps the country’s best known school head, had said earlier that he had submitted a retirement letter to the ministry but it was rejected – a view later contested by the ministry.
